About Me: My name is Adam Starr and I am a Math Education major at Montclair State University. After graduation, I hope to teach high school math, particularly algebra. As of right now my passion and aspirations are to teach, but I hope one day to become a principal in any level of education.
I was introduced to more advanced technology at a fairly young age, primarily with computers. I feel comfortable operating any sort of gadget and I am familiar with how a computer is built and designed as I have custom-built my own computer. In addition, I have been the student of lessons that have been based off technology which include the use of PowerPoint, SmartBoards, and “clickers.” Therefore, I would say I am quite comfortable with technology.
I would most like to learn how to incorporate technology in a math lesson besides using the basics such as PowerPoint. For subjects such as geometry, I know that there are programs such as GeoSketch that provide useful visuals and allow students to create and explore dimensions of geometry. However, for other subjects in math, I am unaware of other technologies. I would also like to learn about how the use of technology can help motivate, promote critical thinking, and help relate students to certain subject areas.
